This large Fossil Fish is a nice example of the Mioplosus species. It is easily recognizable because of it's distinctive double dorsal fin. It's jaw had many sharp teeth and lived on a diet of smaller fish including the Knightia. They were know to reach a maximum length of 51 centimeters. Found in the Green River Formation Eocene Epoch of Lincoln County, Wyoming. About 45 million years old. The limestone plate that contains this fish measures 11 inches by 15 inches overall and the fish measures 7.75 inches long.
